Day 2 of the Quote Challenge

I've been nominated for the 3 Day Quote Challenge! I want to thank Jessy Alvarado at for nominating me for the 3 Day Quote Challenge. Jessy always has honest and helpful insights into Scriptures as well as Christian book reviews. Be sure to check out her blog page!

Today’s quote for Day 2:

Feelings are indicators, not dictators, child. They can indicate where your heart is in the moment, but that doesn’t mean they have the right to dictate your behavior and boss you around. You are more than the sum total of your feelings and perfectly capable of that little gift from Jesus called self-control!

                - Lysa TerKeurst: Unglued: Making Wise Choices in the Midst of Raw Emotions

Why I Chose this Quote:

Feelings have always been important to me. I am a very emotional person at my core; I've had to really work on looking at things logically and controlling my emotions.

The vast majority of this book really spoke to me! In fact, the opening example of blowing up over towels is something I can relate to. Normally, I have time to deal with big stuff, and I don't normally lose it over the big things. But the little things pile up until I can't take it anymore. So I think.

But I'm the boss of my feelings. I have the responsibility and therefore the possibility exists to analyze why I'm feeling these emotions and to decide on the right course of action. I constantly need these reminders in the day-to-day life of motherhood and wifehood.

My Nomination:

Chautona Havig at her blog. Though her name is hard to pronounce, she is a fiesty author of Christian fiction that writes amazing book reviews on her blog! You should definitely subscribe if you're looking for new books to read.
